I have to say the most interesting day of my summer was when I almost lost my life.  It was when the panneling fell on my face. It was choking me. I felt really weak while we were trying to pull them off. I knew that if I didn't get them off soon, I was going to lose my life. The only pictures I have are on my phone.

Following the deaths of the French soldiers in Afghanistan are the Americans still calling the French "Surrender Monkeys"  and sill buying "freedom fries"?   Was not the "Vietnam war hero" Old John McCain a  "surrender monkey"?   He certainly didn't go down fighting, firing from the hip with the Stars and Stripes held aloft , no siree ,not John.  Mind you, spending some time in the Hanoi Hilton may have had some detrimental effect on him cos he appears to find it difficult to know where he is or what he's doing.   Just the type of guy to be Commander in Chief of the most war mongering country on the planet.  God help us all if the old fella gets elected.

YUNG JOC AND EX-GIRLFRIEND CLARIFY CHILD SUPPORT ISSUES

Atlanta-based rapper Yung Joc has stepped forward to clear the air following a recent interview by his ex-girlfriend, Fatimah Jester, in which she alleged that he was behind in his $2,000 a month child support payment for his seven-year-old son. Joc told Atlanta's V103 FM, "When I got on, I was only ordered to pay $114 a month because the courts couldn't determine how much money I was gonna make. I was like, 'What the hell is that? Who can survive on that?' As far as it looked to them, I didn't have a job. But I was paying more (than what was ordered). And something came up one day, and she came to me and said, 'I think we need to sit down and talk, because I need more money." Joc added, "My attorney got with her attorney, I think we did it in a cool fashion. We came up with an agreement: I was paying $2,000 a month, I would take care of all his medical issues, expenses, extracurricular activities, anything to do with my son. And that was the agreement, and I never missed a payment." Jester also called in to clarify that he wasn't behind in his payments but there had been a discrepancy. Yung Joc, whose real name is Jasiel Robinson, blamed the discrepancy on the fact that he doesn't pay Jester directly. He explained, "I don't pay it directly to her, I pay it through (the Georgia Department of Resources Office of Child Support Services). My banker wires the funds to DHR, they wire the funds right to her account. However long that takes, she needs to discuss that with them, and not put me out there bad like that." Yung Joc was also offended at the media coverage of the situation. He said, "They brought up all the charges I been through. But they never brought up the fact that since I been on, I've contributed over half a million to charities and I do charitable work every week...you got cats out here who don't even be with their kids. And it hurts even more because I am a black man...you born into this world as a black man, your back's against the wall. So I'm trying to do everything I can to go against the odds that was against me when I'm born...and when you look up in the media at stuff like this depicting your character to be just what they stereotype you as, it hurts."

Now to me...  Kids don't cost $10,000 a month! PERIOD! All of these wild Child Support stories we hear are just crazy.  In this case, Joc was only ordered to pay $114 a month, he in turn offered $2000 a month.  For the slow math folk, that's $24,000 a year added to her OWN income!  Is that enough to take care of a child?  You tell me! Big ups to Joc for doing his thing.

Anti-trade sentiment is growing, not least in the United States where Barack Obama is calling for new environmental and labour regulations to bog down future trade agreements. Globally, trade liberalisation faces a difficult time because of concerns over commodity prices, displaced jobs and food security. The Food Price Index (measured by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation) rose 40 per cent in 2007.

Some nations have responded with barriers to both exports and imports. India has banned grain exports. Demonstrators in South Korea oppose beef imports, ostensibly over mad cow disease, but more likely over fear of job losses. As living standards come under pressure internationally, governments are tempted to use protectionism to transfer blame and avoid the real issues.

The reality is that free trade is the solution, rather than part of the problem. Free trade cuts prices, creates better jobs, encourages efficiency, and frees investment for new industries, outweighing its losses by as much as 100 to one, according to Stephen Magee in International Trade and Distortions In Factor Markets.

All that protectionism protects us from is access to cheaper, better goods, and the chance to enjoy higher living standards buying them - especially punishing on the poorest, most vulnerable members of society.

First off, they didn't need to do it.  People are still going to go to the games, despite screaming that they are "done with this team".  They had 30,000 people there last Saturday night for a last place baseball team. 

Maybe I am just looking at the situation through my red colored glasses, but I really do believe that Bob Castellini wants to put a winning team on the field to match the first class off-the-field organization.  The Reds have a state-of-the-art stadium, a large fan base, the best broadcasting crew in sports and despite the losing team, still make going to the park an enjoyable experience (at least for my family).  Also, contrary to their neighbors on the other side of Lot D, have done so with upmost integrity. 

They even attempt to provide a brief explanation for trading Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey Jr and admit that the team will have to "endure the short-term ramifications for the sake of building a strong, competitive team for 2009 and many seasons to come".  They also give an update on the signing of the draft picks. 

The letter didn't cost the Reds anything.  It didn't cost you anything to read it.  It was just a nice gesture.  I am and will always be a Reds fan, no matter what happens on the field.

I hope they were not warranted, but one can never be too careful.

I spoke to Tanya today. While sympathetic to my plight, she insisted that Natalia must be provided ‘asylum'. It is difficult to remonstrate with a pregnant woman.

Given the circumstances, I saw no other course but to draw up an advertisement, along the following lines:

Yoooooo!  This economy is wreakin' havoc all over the industry!  Former hip-hop heavyweight, Damon Dash is the latest to bow down to King Recession!  Read the story and be thankful for your blessings, okay? LOL! But on the real, what happened to that $4 Billion dollar deal he and his wife Rachel were supposed to be doing with that clothing company? Hmmm. Suspect.

A bank is suing Damon Dash for allegedly dashing away from his mortgage.

The hip-hop mogul failed to pay Eastern Savings Bank $78,504 in monthly payments for a pair of trendy Tribeca condos from January to August, the bank claims.

Now the bank is warning Dash that he's in danger of losing his apartments in the Sugar Warehouse on Laight St. and in the Atalanta on North Moore St. unless he comes up with the cash in a hurry.

He's also facing more than $10,000 in late fees on the $7.3 million cross-mortgage that covers both properties.

"Damon Dash and [model wife] Rachel Roy have failed to comply with the terms and provisions of the said mortgage," the suit charges.

The lawsuit points out that Dash, who co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z, has a long history of not paying his bills.

The suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, cites numerous judgments against Dash in which he was ordered to pay more than $2 million in New York state taxes, more than $100,000 in federal taxes and $95,000 in unpaid rent to the landlord of the W.39th St. building that houses Damon Dash Enterprises.

A spokeswoman for Dash did not reply to requests for comment, and a lawyer for Eastern Savings Bank declined to comment.

Dash last year sued his accountant for allegedly costing him millions of dollars by filing faulty tax returns.

Jermaine Dupri closed his restuarant ,Cafe Dupri, down in the ATL.  They say his employees were not given notice or payments.   Workers had been complaining about bounced check and insufficient funds notices. Uh Oh. DRAMA!! But yo, check out what Mama Dupri (Tina Mauldin) said to defend her son: Maybe if the employees had worked harder, Cafe Dupri would still be open. LOL! Right!

Ladies, I don't know how ya'll feel but, Ice Cube could still GET IT IN!! OK!! LOL! Thug me out, baby! Hahahah!

SÃO PAULO - "Talento é um padrão natural de pensamentos, sentimentos ou comportamentos que podemos aplicar de forma produtiva". É desta maneira que o coach Emerson Ciociorowski define talento em seu livro "Executivo, o super-homem solitário". O termo, por sua vez, costuma ser misturado, na prática, com outros como conhecimentos e habilidades.
Diferenciando talento de conhecimento, é possível dizer que este último está relacionado a eventos e lições aprendidas, enquanto o primeiro é um padrão que se repete de forma natural. A habilidade, por outro lado, está relacionada com a capacidade que as pessoas possuem de desenvolver etapas de uma atividade.
Aspectos do talento
No livro, o coach revela quais as principais característica do talento:
Talento não se transmite;
Quando o talento se manifesta, você não despende muita energia;
Você reconhece o talento naquelas coisas que faz bem feitas e com constância ao longo do tempo;
Quando você faz algo com talento, você faz com paixão;
Você reconhece o seu talento para aquelas coisas que lhe proporcionam uma satisfação intrínseca, porque têm muito valor para você.
Por que não reconhecemos nossos talentos?
De acordo com Ciociorowski, uma pessoa alcança a excelência na vida profissional a partir do momento em que reconhece seus próprios talentos, agrega o conhecimento e desenvolve suas habilidades. No entanto, descobrir quais são os nossos talentos é bastante difícil.
"Nossa visão fortemente influenciada pelos valores da tradição anglo-protestante, para a qual o que vale é o esforço, contrapõe-se àquilo que fazemos naturalmente e sem grande esforço - uma das características do talento - e passamos a desprezar tudo aquilo que fazemos sem suar", explica o coach.
Além disso, o autor do livro ainda afirmou que é possível identificar uma característica comum entre as pessoas que não conseguem descobrir seus talentos: a falta de reconhecimento por parte de pais e professores daquilo que era bem feito durante a infância.
Como reconhecer e desenvolver o talento?
Para que você consiga identificar e ainda aprimorar os seus talentos, siga a reflexão proposta pelo coach:
Pense no que você faz sempre bem, com pouco esforço, naturalmente e que lhe dá prazer. Estes serão seus talentos únicos. Faça uma lista deles;
Parta dessa lista e pense em como você poderia aumentar ainda mais suas habilidades e capacitações na direção de cada um dos seus talentos;
Procure priorizar definitivamente o empenho para aprimorar seus talentos, o que lhe dará um enorme prazer hoje e não apenas quando você conseguir atingir os seus objetivos;
